We have the keys!! Finally after all the work and waiting, we have closed on our new home. We are really excited to be moving into such a great place. Many have already asked, and the answer is NO...we are not moving in before the wedding! There is essentially too much going on to even think about it, so we've decided to do all of the moving after we get married and return from our honeymoon. So be expecting us to have a new phone number and address starting the end of September.

Check out the original pictures below for outside shots.

And new to check out is page 2, inside shots!

July 2003
Well, we're going to try this again! Gregg and Trish finally found another new place to call home.

Some of you may remember, while others of you don't know the story, that we had found a place in February. Unfortunately, due to a lot of misinformation and some shadiness on the part of the owners, we chose to break away from our offer on the original property and start from scratch.

As it turns out, we're very happy we did, for after another 5 months of looking we found this place which is better in all respects! This home is in Omro and not Oshkosh, which is about a 15-minute drive from EAA. We're getting it from a family who has had this house for 3-4 generations, and now all the "kids" have moved away and they were looking for a couple such as ourselves. It was most likely originally a brick farmhouse, which was then expanded approximately 3-4 times! An interesting extra - we met with the "kids" and learned about some of the property's specific history, which was great. (You'll have to ask us about some of the interesting facts, including the house being used as a government funded hospital/nursing home and as an orphanage.) The house is situated on about 4 acres, which is getting split apart and sold as seperate lots...one of which will be our lot with the house. This home has a great country feel while being in a nice small community. As you can tell from the pictures, this yard has lots of trees and vegetation...great for the dog we've been wanting!

Of course, what better time than to buy a house than right before EAA's AirVenture and getting MARRIED!??! So, we're going to take our time to move in after we're all married and stuff. Until then, you'll still find us in Oshkosh.

More info to come as we find it out...

    Specs -
    Address:

511 Harrison Ave. Omro, WI  54936

    Bedrooms: 4
Bathrooms: 1 Full (main floor), 1 Half (upper floor)
    Square Footage: 2540
Lot Size: 180' x 154' Irregular (final lot size is yet to be approved due to the land partitioning)
    Garage: Detached cinder block 2+ car (3+ Volkswagen) approximately 22' x 30'
Extras: Newer kitchen, newer bathrooms, first floor laundry.
    Layout:

The main brick portion of the house contains the main living room with parquet hardwood floor, main bath, and master bedroom. From here you can open up a door to the upper level stairs which lead to a half bath and 3 pretty good sized rooms (you have to walk through one room to get to the other).

Go back downstairs and you can take a turn out of the living room into another room (possibly formal dining room). Off of this dining room is the enclosed front porch that looks out to the street. Also off of the dining room area is a small room, which will most likely be a computer room. Continue into the back of the house you will find a nicely sized kitchen. Off of the kitchen you will find a utility area. Also there is another smaller "enclosed porch" that has the laundry hookups. You can enter a stairway through a kitchen door down to the basement, which is probably only good for storage and a place for the mechanicals to hide. Aerial layout view can be seen below.

Yes, this is a big house! Since we haven't spent a lot of time in this house, I am probably making it sound bigger than it really is, but you get the idea for those of you far away...

    Closing Date: August 22, 2003

Great Old Photo!
This was given to us by the family that owns the house. It shows the front of the house with its open porch and most likely at the time the only addition to the brick main portion. It is estimated that this is a photo of the owners Great Grandma circa 1900-1915.
